Things are starting to get rolling with the You, God’s Music Showcase! 440 contestants entered round 1, with the top 50% making it to round 2. Now in round 2, only the top 25 will advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, the judges, Blanca (singer originally from Group 1 Crew), Jordan Smith (Season 9 winner on the Voice), and Jordan Feliz (“Down to the River”) step in and hold 50% of the vote for who continues to the finals in TX!

Round 2 is a great time for me to share a little bit of why I’m doing this competition. For starters, it makes for a very easy conversation starter, allowing me to talk about how I’d love to do more worship events and children’s ministry events at churches/retreats. I’m also motivated to get going on my song writing (hoping to submit an original for round 3, but will share it either way if I don’t make round 3!). Worship music has brought such joy and peace throughout my whole life. Even in college when I was full on studying classical music, worship brought me through the crazy challenges in that season, inside and outside the classroom.
This competition helps artists fundraise for their own ministry and a chosen charity. I’ll post soon about my chosen charity, Little Lambs Preschool. For my personal music ministry, I’m in need of a good keyboard to take to events. My upright at home is…very heavy and cannot get up and go XD
This round, my song is “The Jesus Way” by Phil Wickham. This song has been on my heart for quite awhile now. I believe a life with Jesus Christ is the most abundant and wondrous life one can have, but the commitment to follow the Savior often comes with a cost, such as a loss of a friendship or misunderstanding from family or culture. In many parts of the world, becoming a Christian is acknowledging that you may have to lay down your life for this decision. But as a line goes in the song, “He wore my sin, I’ll gladly wear His name.”
Prayers for all the contestants in Round 2 and getting a great opportunity to share what’s on our hearts!
VOTING LINK will be provided shortly once the competition goes live in few hours!
